Sea Swept

Cameron Quinn is at the top of his game! He is a champion at his first love racing boats, famous, and a different woman every night. His world comes crashing down around him when he is notified his adopted father, Ray, is dying from injuries received in an accident. Cameron arrives in time to say goodbye along with his brothers Phillip and Ethan. It is then they find out that they have another brother named Seth. Since they were all adopted, they all come together to make sure Seth is taken care of.

Anna Spinelli is responsible for Seth as his caseworker. She is a no nonsense take no prisoners type of woman. Anna is straightforward and doesn't play any games. She knew that mixing business with pleasure was a no-no but she couldn't deny her attraction to Cameron.

Cameron decides to move home to provide the stable environment Seth needs. Phillip, Ethan, and Cameron have never raised children before, and they have no idea what to do in many circumstances. Anna is sympathetic to them, and helps them as much as possible. As Cameron and Anna grow closer, they must find a way to balance all the needs of this family.

This is a wonderful start to the new series. Each of the brothers is very different, and it is a struggle for them to learn to be a family unit. There are some very funny antics, and some very touching heartwarming moments. Cameron and Anna are good together, and have great chemistry.

Had me from the first chapter. Love learning about the characters in her novels. Can't wait to get in to the next book of this series and see how Ray manifests himself into his other sons' lives.

Interesting but disappointing

I found that this book was lacking in the overview of the Cortex M3 architecture, and in particular the ISA when compared to the free (and authoritative) content found on ARM's web site ("Cortex-M3 Generic User Guide" and, in long form, the "ARMv7-M Architecture Reference Manual") written in a more informative style. After all this is a book on assembly language programming so one can see why the discussion of the ISA and architecture may not be as thorough. The material on assembly language programming is better than the discussion of assembly language programming found in The Definitive Guide to the ARM Cortex-M3, Second Edition. There again, the books differ in the main topic. Yet, when it gets down to the assembly language I was disappointed with this book. Primarily because the discussion is more focused on special topics mixed with examples of instruction use for the topics being discused. I was looking more for complete examples of programs from beginning to end, beginning with the simple to the comlex and, if possible, with the GNU tool set. ARM's RDK seems to be the popular tool in many if the ARM books. There is an obligatory appendix on GNU assembly language programming which I found incomplete and and disappointing. Unfortunately there is no "Look Inside" or TOC on Amazon for customerw. I posted the TOC below to help others considering this book. Another helpful point of reference is the series of books Embedded Systems: Real-Time Interfacing to the Arm� Cortex(TM)-M3, Embedded Microcomputer Systems: Real Time Interfacing, and Embedded Systems: Real-Time Operating Systems for the Arm� Cortex(TM)-M3 by Jonathan Valvano. These books better suite my purpose; you mileage may vary. One thing I also missed is an brief discussion on op codes. Any hard core assembly programmer, IMHO, generally seeks op code especially when dealing with fault exceptions to understand the underlying cause. Perhaps I am old school, but I find this odd the in the context of assembly language, there is no such discussion. I was able to find an excellent 3-page summary on a web site that, again IMHO, belongs in such a book. Finally, although the author did a fairly good job with vendor neutrality, there is a slant towards the STM32 Cortex-M3. This did not affect my decision to rate this book three stars.

Very nice introduction

I've been programming PIC in C and Assembly for many years and I wanted to get started in Cortex-M3. This was a great resource and got me up to speed in no time. Daughters Thinking Outside the Box

"The Modern Murasaki" is one of those rare definitive anthologies, the kind that constitutes a cornerstone contribution to the field while being just in and of itself profoundly interesting and enjoyable to read cover to cover. Within its pages are translations of literary works written during the Meiji era (1868-1911) by Japanese women of various temperaments and backgrounds, all of whom though sought more out of life than the role of "good wife, wise mother" dictated to them. And it's a good thing they did, too, because modern Japanese literature would be much the poorer without the excellent stories, poems, plays, and essays found herein--highly thought-provoking or deeply moving, terribly heart-wrenching or wonderfully entertaining, but all noteworthy and significant.

In many respects too this is an important anthology. Of course it vastly expands the horizons of what we think of as Meiji literature, but the works here are also key representative texts rather than the footnotes of literary history; I know for certain that I have come across countless references to Kishida Toshiko's speech/essay "Daughters in Boxes" in who knows how many historical studies and such, but now finally I got the chance to actually read the real thing for myself. The translations are of an exceptional quality, too, carefully accurate and scholarly and yet vibrant and accessibly literary. Furthermore, the selections seem carefully chosen so as to be equally relevant both in terms of literature and social history, making this book extremely useful to scholars and students in both areas of inquiry--not to mention Women's Studies in general. Finally, the handy format of this book makes it ideal for classroom use so it should hopefully find its way to many a syllabus, and yet it's the perfect book to just sit back with at a coffee shop and read for good old-fashioned enjoyment's sake.

Great Punic War resource for academic or personal research

I purchased this book for an academic paper, and could not bear to let it go. Now that I am blogging history as well as writing historical fiction, this book is still a great resource.

The chapters provide a history of the background leading to the Punic wars, discuss the account of the wars by Polybius as well as other contemporary historians, and discuss each of the Three Wars in some detail. Military enthusiasts and political scientists will find an equal amount of interesting and informative material herein.

I highly recommend this book.

Great Compilation of Punic Wars resources

Companion to the Punic Wars is a great text for anyone interested in the Punic Wars, or writing any academic literature on the subject. This text was the bulk of my research for an undergraduate thesis and has an extensive bibliography allowing for further research on the subject. If you are writing on the topic in any extent, you must read this text. Dedicates a large chunk to each individual war, but also dives into theoretical perspectives on ancient historiography and classical literature. Great Resource.

My struggling reader loved this book!

To be honest I received this as a gift from a family member. I thought it was a cute book and the kiddo wanted to instantly read it. This is a kid that really struggles with reading and never wants to do it. When he was excited about this book it made me excited. To think that this book may have changed everything for him, makes me smile.

The story is very engaging and incorporates a challenging vocabulary. The clock was a fun add on.

Recommended for any young readers.

Great for time learning

Silly poems (like sharks don't really go to school) but my 2nd graders liked it. Really appreciate how the cover opens up so the clock is visible from every page. The time hands were easy to move with the wheel.

It is a good book, but the quality was much worse than the pictured showed. Had to reattach the front cover which was co0ompletely off. Still worth the money, but I felt only worth 4 stars.

Will Surely Enhance Your Elder Scrolls Experience

This is a great selection of IN-GAME texts beautifully collected, bound and arranged to help immerse yourself in the lore of the land, provinces and alliances available in the video game The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Nearly each story is accompanied by beautiful conceptual and original artwork to help deepen your understanding of the text. This is a first in a series of books exploring the lore of the Elder Scrolls Universe. If you are an Elder Scrolls fan, this book is sure to enhance your understanding of Tamriel.

Cons:
- Kinda Pricey
- I might have picked a slightly different font
- No new lore. All material can be found and read in-game.

Great book for fans

The presentation is beautiful. It's a hardcover with a surface that's almost velvety with a nice emboss design. If you happen to have the Diablo III companions on the folklore, such as The Book of Cain or The Book of Tyrael, this is almost like those in terms of presentation. The pages are designed like old parchment with yellow pages and mould stains.

The content are actually text from the game. You might find the text online as well through sources such as Wikia but that would be troublesome to go through compared to them all collected neatly in this book.

The text are stories and lore from various inhabitants of Tamriel, from all the three warring factions, Aldmeri Dominion, Daggerfall Convenant and Ebonheart. There's also a section with several chapters on creatures.

For every spread, there's either one or two pieces of beautiful artworks that decorate the blocks of text.

It's a great book for fans of Elder Scrolls Online. The only downside is the peculiar choice of font used that affects the legibility.

Interesting and artistically beautiful, not entirely what I expected

For fans of the Elder Scrolls online, this is a must-have gaming supplement.

It's not exactly what I expected.

I thought that it was going to be a guide to the land. Silly me. What it is instead is a series of anecdotes and tales as told by inhabitants of Tamriel.

The book itself is a work of artistry. It has a heavy duty binding, and pages that are faux aged. It is lavishly illustrated, and many pages have small hand-drawn illustrations and illegible ink-ings that add to the feeling that this is a collection of stories or perhaps a personal journal.

The one thing that it is lacking is maps. I was really expecting there to be maps. Even a collection of stories might've had a hand-drawn map or two tucked into it.

Also, truth in lending, while I highly recommend this book. If you're expecting there to be secrets revealed in it, think again. Everything in this book that I read is available in other sources. Sorry! No dark secrets are revealed.

Again if you are a fan of the Elder Scrolls, I highly recommend this book.
